Superhero Cartoon Network: Incredible Hulk (1960s)

The Show:
The Incredible Hulk was one of five superheroes featured as part of "The Marvel Super Heroes" cartoon show. The Incredible Hulk segments focused on the adventures of military scientist Dr. Bruce Banner, who is accidentally irradiated with gamma rays, and gains the ability to transform into a green 7 foot, thousand-pound, rage-enhanced wrecking machine known to the world as The Incredible Hulk.

Background:
The Incredible Hulk, along with the other features from "The Marvel Super Heroes" lineup was a Canadian-made animated feature and was first syndicated, on U.S. television, in 1966. What made this cartoon unique among other animated features of the time was that the animation itself was taken almost directly from the Marvel Comics-published comic book (panels) that each story/episode was based on. The result was limited articulation of movements from the animated characters in the features, that was supported by rich comic book-like sound effects that emphasized the action that was supposed to be taking place. The action was also often narrated from an omniscient-perspective by Bernard Cowan, who narrated similarly in all of the Marvel Super Heroes features.
The episodes followed the adventures of Bruce Banner/Hulk, who are on the run from the U.S. military, as they see him as a threat to national security. He is accompanied in his adventures by his teenage sidekick, Rick Jones, the youngster he risked his life to save...an act that resulted in the creation of the Hulk. His main enemies are U.S Military General "Thunderbolt" Ross, Major Glenn Talbot, and the super-intelligent gamma-spawn known as The Leader.
