About This Site...
Welcome to the Superhero Cartoon Network online, a jumping-off point for locating and downloading superhero-related cartoons. We will be updating our files daily, starting in alphabetical order (listed by the actual name of the main character, not necessarily by the name of the show). What makes the Superhero Cartoon Network different from other such download link sites is that we will endeavor to upload and post individual cartoons from the superhero genre—both old and new—in the MPEG format. This means that these files are ready to be watched or burned to a DVD recording device once downloaded. Where files for a particular cartoon are too large to be uploaded as single MPEG files, they will be split and uploaded as smaller MPEGs. In the event that files are too large or impractical to be uploaded as MPEGs, we will upload them as AVI files, which when are downloaded and extracted, will make a single AVI after you convert the resulting AVI to an MPEG (naturally, you will need the proper software to accomplish this with. Below are the links to free software that will allow you to do this; most of these programs are user-friendly, and only requires basic computer literacy).

The Show: Samson & Goliath (also known as Young Samson & Goliath) is a 30-minute animated television series produced by Hanna-Barbera Productions for NBC in 1967, and primarily sponsored (and owned) by General Mills. A second slam transforms Goliath into a super-powered lion. Samson has great strength, endurance, and agility, as well the ability to leap so well he appears to be flying. He can also direct shock waves from his wristbands, and by twisting his bracelets, can increase his and Goliath's powers to far greater levels. The Show: This was a Hanna-Barbera Cartoon that ran from 1966 - 1968 on CBS. It premiered on September 10, 1966. They are approximately 8 minute long cartoons that sandwiched another cartoon called Dinoboy In The Lost Valley. These same cartoons were later paired with Frankenstein Jr. in The Space Ghost/Frankenstein Jr. Show in 1976. Space Ghost was an outer space crime fighter who had the ability to turn invisible and had a pair of wrist bands that projected force fields and various rays. He was accompanied by the twins Jan and Jace and their monkey Blip. Jan and Jace usually got in trouble and Blip would get everyone, including Space Ghost, out of it. But when push came to shove it was Space Ghost's powers that came through.

Space Ghost was voiced by Gary Owens along with Tim Matheson as the voice of Jace and Ginny Tyler voicing Jan. Space Ghost and his helpers fought supervillains with the recurring of them being Moltar, Zorak, Spider Woman (also named the Black Widow in some episodes), Metallus , Brak, and Creature King.

The Show: The Herculoids is a Saturday morning animated television series that was produced by Hanna-Barbera Productions. The show debuted on September 9, 1967 on CBS. Hanna-Barbera produced one season for the original airing of the show, although the original 18 episodes were rerun during the 1968–69 television season, with The Herculoids ending its run on September 6, 1969.
Eleven new episodes were produced in 1981 as part of the Space Stars show. The plotlines are rooted in science fiction, and have story direction and content similar to Jonny Quest and Space Ghost.
Background: Together, the Herculoids battled to defend their planet from menaces on Amzot/Quasar (Amzot was renamed Quasar in the Space Stars episodes). and from Outer Space. All of the Herculoids displayed Human-level intelligence as well as emotions, and Zandor and Tarra both displayed a working knowledge of complex alien technologies as well as the ability to pilot interstellar spacecraft--but essentially, Zandor, Tarra, Dorno, and the Herculoids were fighting to keep Amzot/Quasar a technology-free, primitive planet, if Zandor's, Tarra's, and Dorno's respective pseudo-barbarian outfits and the fact that technology was used mainly by the various villains, but rarely if ever by the heroes, were any indication. Although the "speech" of their companions was limited and repetitive, Zandor, Tarra and Dorno (c.f. "The Mutoids:" "Gleep says that the aliens who landed are attacking Dorno and Tundro.") demonstrated that Gloop and Gleep, at least, had a comprehensive mode of communication, and that they could at least understand and interpret the "language." In reality, the voices were brief tracks supplied by two actors and reused throughout the series, in keeping with Hanna-Barbera's thrifty ethos.
In addition to the human members of the group, the animal members of the Herculoids were as follows:
* Zok, voiced by Mike Road, a flying space dragon. He can emit laser beams from his eyes and tail. His eyes also produce a "nega-beam" that can neutralize certain energy attacks. Zok can survive in space unaided, is capable of interstellar travel, and can breathe fire.
* Igoo, voiced by Mike Road, a rock ape. An extremely large and powerful simian, he has extremely dense skin and is nearly invulnerable to harm. In one episode, Igoo wades through a pond of molten lava. Igoo has a great fondness and devotion for Tarra, and would do anything for her.
* Tundro, voiced by Mike Road, a ten-legged, four-horned rhino. He can shoot explosive energy rocks from his cannon-horn (Zandor, Tarra, and Dorno also occasionally shoot similar rocks with slingshots). His natural armor-plating is exceptionally strong, similar to Igoo's rock skin. His legs have the ability to extend to a remarkable length, somewhat like stilts. He can also spin his head at blinding speed, allowing him to drill through solid rock, and has the ability to make magnificent leaps.
* Gloop and Gleep, both voiced by Don Messick, two protoplasmic creatures. They can assume any shape or form that they choose; for instance, if they spot an allied human falling, they can make physical contact with the person, then spread out their mass to become a crude parachute to allow the human to land safely. They can also subdivide themselves into multiple smaller units (each having eyes), which move more or less in unison. Gloop is the larger of the two, while Gleep seemes to be a juvenile and is often paired off with young Dorno. Gloop and Gleep's unique physical makeup apparently provides even more protection from physical or energy-based attacks than Igoo's stony hide. They seem to be able to absorb energy blasts and laser beams.

The Show: Frankenstein Jr. was a Hanna-Barbera-produced cartoon that was originally part of the The Frankenstein Jr.and The Impossibles show which debuted on NBC in September 1966. This cartoon was later bracketed by two episodes of Space Ghost during its second incarnation in 1976 as The Space Ghost/Frankenstein Jr. Show. Frankenstein Jr. is about a boy genius and scientist named Buzz Conroy, who with his scientist father builds a giant robot named Frankenstein Jr. Together they fight crime and stomp the bad guys.
Background: Frankenstein, Jr.: Taking place in Civic City, boy scientist Buzz Conroy (voiced by Dick Beals) and his father Professor Conroy (voiced by John Stephenson) fight supervillains with the aid of a powerful heroic robot named "Frankenstein Jr." (voiced by Ted Cassidy). "Frankie", as Buzz usually referred to him, was more than a little reminiscent of the title character in Gigantor; Buzz built "Frankie" and activated him through an energy ring.
The show was the target of complaints about violence in children's television, and was canceled in 1968. The Frankenstein, Jr. segments were later recycled in the 1976 series Space Ghost and Frankenstein, Jr., which aired on NBC from November 27, 1976 until September 3, 1977

The Show: The Fantastic Four is an animated series produced by Hanna-Barbera Productions and the first animated series based on Marvel's comic book series "Fantastic Four."
Background: The Fantastic Four featured character designs by Alex Toth, aired on ABC from 1967 to 1970. It lasted for 20 episodes, with repeat episodes airing on ABC until the network cancelled the program, and the episodes were loosely-based on the Marvel Comic story lines of the superhero quartet. It followed the exploits of a close-knit family of adventures led by the super-intelligent scientist, Reed Richards (Mr. Fantastic), his then-girlfriend, Sue Storm (Invisible Girl), her brother Johnny Storm (The Human Torch) and Reed's college friend, Ben Grimm (The Thing). These four humans went up in a rocket ship of Reed's design in a race to be the first humans in space. Before Reed was finished with his research, news came of the impending blastoff of rival governments. So the four humans took off and reached space first, but when they got there they ran into a cosmic storm. Besides being radiated by the cosmic rays, the storm destroyed the instruments of the rocket ship and they headed for a crash landing. Thanks to the brilliant piloting skills of Ben they walk away from the crash, but they find their lives have changed due the effects of the cosmic rays. Reed can now stretch all his body like rubber. Sue can turn invisible and later finds out she can produce force fields. Johnny bursts into flames, but finds he can control the flame and fly. But poor Ben. He turns into an orange rock-like monster with the strength of hundreds but at the cost of his humanity. They decide that their abilities should be used for the betterment of mankind and follow this pursuit and become the world's greatest team of superheroes. The team's major nemesis is the brilliant super villain known as Dr. Doom. Through a series of transactions, Disney currently holds the rights to the majority of Marvel's 1960s-1990s animated output. However, the 1967-1968 Fantastic Four was produced by Hanna-Barbera, which is part of Time Warner, making the series one of only a handful of Marvel-related TV projects not owned by Disney (which has since acquired Marvel outright).

The Show: Birdman is a animated superhero/science fiction series created by Alex Toth and produced at Hanna-Barbera. It aired as one part of the half-hour Hanna-Barbera production of the Birdman and the Galaxy Trio show.
Background: Birdman debuted on NBC on September 9, 1967, and ran on Saturday mornings until September 6, 1969. It followed the adventures of an ordinary human endowed by the sun god Ra (although this origin is only vaguely and briefly hinted at during the series; his real name is never mentioned) with the ability to shoot solar rays from his fists and project “solar shields” to defend himself against attacks. He was recruited by a top-secret government agency, Inter-Nation Security, and now works full-time fighting crime, assisted by his eagle sidekick Avenger. In addition to the abilities he received from Ra, Birdman also possesses the power of flight, thanks to the giant wings which sprout from his back. His sole weakness is that he must periodically recharge his super powers through exposure to the sun’s rays. His trademark is his battle cry of "Biiiiirdman!!" when he goes into battle. Every episode, Birdman would receive his mission orders from his Inter-Nation Security contact, codenamed Falcoln 7. He is often aided in his missions by his sidekick, Birdboy and Avenger. His "number one" enemy is known as "Number One," the leader of the sinister organization known only by its acronym, F.E.A.R.
