About This Site...

Welcome to the Superhero Cartoon Network online, a jumping-off point for locating and downloading superhero-related cartoons. We will be updating our files daily, starting in alphabetical order (listed by the actual name of the main character, not necessarily by the name of the show).
What makes the Superhero Cartoon Network different from other such download link sites is that we will endeavor to upload and post individual cartoons from the superhero genre—both old and new—in the MPEG format. This means that these files are ready to be watched or burned to a DVD recording device once downloaded. Where files for a particular cartoon are too large to be uploaded as single MPEG files, they will be split and uploaded as smaller MPEGs. In the event that files are too large or impractical to be uploaded as MPEGs, we will upload them as AVI files, which when are downloaded and extracted, will make a single AVI after you convert the resulting AVI to an MPEG (naturally, you will need the proper software to accomplish this with. Below are the links to free software that will allow you to do this; most of these programs are user-friendly, and only requires basic computer literacy).

The Tick

The Show:
The Tick is a half hour cartoon. The Tick is a big loveable bulk of a superhero who is completely invulnerable (except maybe his head) in a town full of incompetent superheroes. He is totally gung ho for justice and niceness and the American way. He is joined by his slightly overweight and out of shape sidekick "Arthur" (a white moth) who gave up being an accountant to follow his life long ambition to be a superhero; although timid he is the brains of the duo. They are sometimes joined by other superheroes but mostly American Maid (the only truly competent superhero in the big city).

Background:
The Tick is an American animated television series adaptation of the New England Comics superhero, The Tick. The series debuted September 10, 1994 on the Fox network's Fox Kids block and was responsible for introducing the satirical comic book character to a mainstream audience. Lasting three successful seasons, the final episode aired on November 27, 1996.
The origin of The Tick differs from the comic book version. Rather than being an asylum escapee,the animated version crashes a superhero convention to win the "protectorship" of The City. With its emphasis on superhero parody, The Tick became a Saturday morning staple during the Fox Kids block. Its title character was voiced by the versatile Townsend Coleman and his sidekick, Arthur, by Micky Dolenz for Season 1. Rob Paulsen would take over the Arthur voice roles during Seasons 2 and 3. The series also features Die Fledermaus as a shallow, self-absorbed Batman parody; Sewer Urchin, a Rain Man-like version of Aquaman; and American Maid, a more noble superheroine featuring aspects of Wonder Woman and Captain America.
A typical episode plot would have The Tick battling a villain until Arthur devises a solution that saves the day. The Tick then declares an absurd moral regarding the previous conflict before the story comes to a close. Although the series was initially aimed primarily at children, it features an absurdist, parody style that appeals to an older audience as well.
By November 1996, after three seasons, The Tick had come to an end. The following year, FOX began talks with Sunbow Entertainment about producing a prime time Tick special, but this never came to fruition. Comedy Central syndicated The Tick during this time and subsequently help make it a cult hit with adults. In May 2000, the pilot episode for a live action series of The Tick was completed. FOX attempted to capitalize on the growing adult fan base by introducing this new incarnation in November 2001, but due to its major time slot, the series couldn't match the success of its animated predecessor.

Ultra-Force

The Show:
UltraForce was a half-hour cartoon produced by DIC Entertainment Production. The series was about Ultras, originally ordinary people who gained super powers that were used for evil purposes. A group of superhero Ultras was formed, led by Hardcase, to fight the Ultras and their evil bad guys - Rune, Lord Pumpkin, and Sludge. The series premiered in syndication as part of Amazin' Adventures II in September 1995.

Background:
The Ultraforce was an animated series (produced by DIC Entertainment) which lasted only a single season. The series was based on the fictional superhero group in Malibu Comics. Their purpose was to protect the public and keep other Ultras from getting out of line. The membership consisted of various "ultras" (superheroes) in Malibu's Ultraverse including the super-strong Prime; Topaz, warrior queen of Gwendor; Prototype, Ultra-Tech's armored spokesperson; the undead Ghoul, the last surviving member of the Exiles; Hardcase, the one of the first public Ultras; and the mysterious Contrary, who organized the team and provided their technology.

Pryde of the X-Men (Pilot)

The Show:
X-Men: Pryde of the X-Men (commonly known as Pryde of the X-Men) is an animated television pilot originally broadcast in 1989 on the Marvel Action Universe television block, featuring Marvel Comics’ mutant superheroes the X-Men.

Background:
The title is a pun on the name of Kitty Pryde, the youngest X-Man. The series for which this episode was intended to launch never materialized.
The X-Men’s archenemy Magneto is being transported by a military convoy; Magneto is unable to use his powers, trapped in a force field. That is, until the White Queen appears. A member of his "Brotherhood of Terrorist Mutants", she scatters the escort and dismantles the field restricting Magneto, allowing him to use his magnetic powers to tear apart his portable prison.
Elsewhere, Kitty Pryde arrives at Professor Xavier's to be trained to use her power of phasing, passing through solid matter. As she arrives, Xavier introduces her to the other X-Men.
Magneto sends Pyro and Blob to retrieve the tracking coordinates for the Scorpio comet. This diverts the X-Men while Magneto and Juggernaut invade the X-Mansion, Juggernaut operating similar to a wrecking ball. The Professor learns from Magneto’s thoughts that they have come for the "mutant power circuit" of Cerebro (the mutant-tracking computer). He gives it to Kitty and orders her to flee but Magneto captures it.
The X-Men return from their confrontation with Blob and Pyro to find the mansion in ruins and the Professor and Kitty unconscious. Xavier once again reads Magneto’s thoughts, this time learning the full details of his plan. Magneto plans to redirect the passing Scorpio comet onto a collision course with Earth. This would send up a cloud of dust and debris, blocking out the Sun for years, plunging the planet into the Ice Age. The X-Men must leave at once for Magneto’s orbiting sanctuary Asteroid M, but he instructs Kitty to stay as the mission is far too dangerous. Kitty however, wanting to help, phases aboard the Blackbird and hides.
Upon reaching the asteroid, each X-Man quickly becomes enganged on the way to Magneto. Only Nightcrawler finally confronts a gloating Magneto as the Scorpio comet is approaching Earth. As Magneto is about to blast Nightcrawler, Kitty emerges from the floor, causing Magneto to accidentally blast the wiring of his device. Nightcrawler teleports up and uses his body as a conduct, while Kitty knocks Magneto onto the platform, using his power to redirect the comet's course towards Asteroid M. Nightcrawler must risk sacrificing himself to complete the machine's circuit, or the comet changes course back to Earth. The X-Men watch from the Blackbird for Nightcrawler to teleport at the last minute. The comet and asteroid collide. Nightcrawler rematerialized out in space. The team only had seconds to fire the grappling beams, or he'd burn up entering the atmosphere. They miss and Nightcrawler burns up. The X-Men mourn their fallen teammate and Kitty cries over how badly she had treated him earlier. A familiar voice from the rear of the jet confirms that Nightcrawler had survived after all. Wolverine insists that Kitty isn’t a member of the X-Men, at least "not yet."

Spider-Woman

The Show:
Spider-Woman was a half hour long cartoon. Spider-Woman was an attempt in 1979 to capitalize on a new female hero in the Marvel Universe. The new cartoon dealt with a character connected with Spider-Man, who was at the height of his popularity due to Spider-Man And His Amazing Friends. However, the series lasted only a single season.

Background:
According to the title sequence, Jessica Drew (voiced by Joan Van Ark) was bitten by a poisonous spider as a child; her father saved her life by injecting her with an experimental "spider serum", which also granted her superhuman powers. As an adult, Jessica is editor of Justice Magazine, with two other employees featured; photographer Jeff and Jessica's teenage nephew Billy. When trouble arises, Jessica slips away to change into her secret identity of Spider-Woman.
The cartoon differs considerably from the comic book in its premise and supporting cast. Billy, Jeff, and Justice Magazine never appear in the comic book in any form. Nor do the darker elements of the comic book (the heavy use of Arthurian legend and the occult, Jessica's feelings of alienation) enter into the much brighter world of the cartoon. The origin of her powers is also altered somewhat; at the time of the series' production, the threat to her life in the comics was radiation poisoning
The animated Spider-Woman's powers are noticeably modified; her enhanced strength in particular seems entirely missing, as she is shown in several episodes being restrained by means (such as ordinary rope) that her super-strong comic-book counterpart could easily break. In addition to the ability to cling to walls:

Spider-Woman retains the ability to fire bursts of energy from her hands called "venom blasts", but they are white instead of green. The episode "Realm of Darkness" seems to imply that Venom Blasts can be fired as long Spider-woman has enough strength.
Spider-Woman has powers vaguely similar to ones possessed by Spider-Man that her comic book incarnation lacks:
A clairvoyant "spider-sense" that allows her to see dangers as they happen; no matter where she is, she can close her eyes and see the event, shown to the viewers as an image outlined by a spider-web.
She can also project spider-like "weblines" from the palms of her hands or an individual finger. This appears to be naturally generated, as opposed to Spider-Man's mechanical web-shooters, but she is similarly prone to running out of "web fluid" ("The Ghost Vikings"). She is able to control the direction in which her weblines move; "The Kingpin Strikes Again" shows her casting a web in a descending spiral to disorient and then restrain a criminal.
The animated Spider-Woman also has the ability to change into costume merely by spinning around, an idea borrowed from the Wonder Woman television series starring Lynda Carter.
While Spider-Woman could (at the time) only glide on air currents in the comics, the animated version appears able to fly at will, though her costume's glider wings were apparent whenever she took flight. (The comic book incarnation has since gained the power of true flight as well.)
The animated Spider-Woman would occasionally display previously unknown "spider"-powers, conveniently able to assist her in random situations, such as:
"Spider-telepathy", allowing her to mentally communicate with spiders and ask them for assistance ("Pyramids of Terror")
A sonic scream, dubbed her "spider-shriek" ("Realm of Darkness")
A protective "spider-bubble" allowing her to function underwater without diving gear ("The Ghost Vikings")

The Spider-Woman cartoon should not be confused with Web Woman (part of the Batman/Tarzan & The Super 7 lineup), a Filmation superheroine cartoon launched at around the same time, which reportedly prompted Marvel Comics into creating a Spider-Woman character to secure the copyright

SuperFriends: The Legendary Super Powers Show

The Show:
After an absence of four years, the Superfriends returned in SuperFriends: The Legendary Super Powers Show, a show that pitted them against the evil minions of Darkseid, ruler of Apokolips, in two stories per half hour. It introduced new characters from the comics, Firestorm and Cyborg. This show was a Hanna-Barbera Production and the series premiered on September 8, 1984 on ABC.

Super Friends: The Legendary Super Powers Show was the first Super Friends series in a new format since 1979's The World's Greatest Super Friends. Continuing the previous three years' policy of producing short stories, this series' format was two stories per half hour, so all the separate stories were ten minutes long each.
The series was also noteworthy for using Adam West as the voice of Batman, two decades after the end of the 1960s live action Batman series. Also for this series, Lex Luthor and Brainiac were completely revamped to resemble their revamped comic book counterparts
